November 2012
I decided rather quickly, and without too much thought, that I would participate in a race honoring veterans. The Bolen Memorial Park First Annual Veterans Day 5K was on November 11th and it was a chilly day. I had been running over the previous few weeks and months, but only a little. Really I was running with the hopes that when JDRF decided to announce their participation in a half-marathon that I wouldn't be totally out of shape. To my delight, my brother was able to join me for the Veterans Day 5K. However it was under unfortunate and sad circumstances that led him to Virginia that weekend. He flew in to be with his friend and honor his recently deceased mother. James, you are a great friend, and a great brother!

Typical November business ensued with preparations for our annual Thanksgiving gathering. This year I decided that the kids and I would participate in the neighborhood annual Turkey Trot. We enjoyed the brisk run that morning while papa prepared the turkey. It was a lot of fun and I'm really proud of both kids for finishing so strong!
